Terms & Privacy
Last updated October 7, 2026
WorthIt shows grocery deals from store flyers near you and compares them with what stores usually charge. These terms explain the rules for using WorthIt and how we handle your information. In short: use WorthIt for your own shopping, check prices at the store, and we only use your information to run and improve WorthIt.
Terms of use
1. What WorthIt is
WorthIt collects deals from retailers' published flyers and estimates each item's usual price from flyers, online shelf prices, Statistics Canada averages and prices reported by shoppers. Deals, prices, sizes and "% off" figures are estimates for information only. They can be out of date or wrong, and the store's price at the checkout is the one that counts. WorthIt isn't affiliated with or endorsed by the stores it lists.
2. Your account
You can use WorthIt without an account. If you sign in, we send a sign-in link to your email address — anyone who can open your email can sign in as you, so keep your email account secure. An account is for one person. You can sign out at any time, and you can ask us to delete your account (see Contact).
3. Prices you report
When you report a regular price, you let us use it to calculate usual prices and show them to other shoppers. Please only report prices you've actually seen. We may remove reports that look wrong.
4. Fair use
Use WorthIt for your own, personal shopping. Please don't copy WorthIt's data in bulk, access it with automated tools, try to get around its security, or interfere with how it works. We may suspend accounts that misuse WorthIt.
5. No guarantees
WorthIt is provided as is. To the extent the law allows, we don't guarantee that it will always be available, accurate or error-free, and we aren't responsible for losses that come from relying on its prices or deals. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer protection laws that can't be waived.
6. Changes
We may update WorthIt and these terms. If we make an important change, we'll let you know in the app before it takes effect. If you keep using WorthIt after that, the new terms apply.
7. Law
These terms are governed by the laws of Alberta and the federal laws of Canada that apply there.
Privacy
What we collect
- Your email address, if you sign in.
- Your shopping list and your stores — kept on your device, and saved to your account when you're signed in so they show up on your other devices.
- How you use WorthIt: when you visit, how long the page is open, the city you shop in, the kind of device (phone or computer), the site that sent you, and what you do in the app — for example the deals you open or add to your list, searches, filters and saved stores. If you're not signed in this is anonymous: it's tied to a random ID kept on your device, not to your name or email. If you're signed in, it's linked to your account.
- Prices you report: the item, store and price, plus a scrambled (one-way hashed) version of your internet address that helps us stop spam. We can't turn it back into your address.
- The area you search (postal code, city or neighbourhood, or your location if you allow it): used to find stores and deals near you, and remembered on your device so you don't have to enter it again.
WorthIt saves your settings, list and sign-in on your device using your browser's storage. We don't use advertising cookies or show ads.
How we use it
- To run WorthIt: show deals near you, keep your list and stores in sync, and sign you in.
- To improve WorthIt and understand how it's used — for example, how many people come back each week and which features they use.
- To keep usual prices accurate and to prevent spam and abuse.
- To contact you about your account or important changes to WorthIt.
- If you choose to be asked for feedback, to email you now and then with a short survey or an invitation to chat about improving WorthIt. We may pick who to ask based on how you use WorthIt (for example, people who use the shopping list). This is off unless you chose it earlier; we no longer offer the option.
If we ever want to use your personal information for a purpose that isn't described here, we'll ask for your consent first.
Who we share it with
We use service providers to run WorthIt: Supabase (database and sign-in), Netlify (website hosting) and an email provider to send sign-in links. They handle your information only to provide their services to us. Your information is stored in the United States, so it may be accessed by authorities there under local law. We may also disclose information when the law requires it.
How long we keep it
We keep your account information while you have an account. When you ask us to delete your account, we delete your email address, list, stores and activity. Prices you reported may be kept without your account details so usual prices stay accurate.
Your choices
- Use WorthIt without signing in — your list and stores then stay on your device only.
- Sign out at any time from the account button.
- Turn feedback requests on or off at any time from the account button.
- Turn off usage stats on a device by opening this link once.
- Ask us for a copy of your information, to correct it, or to delete your account.
Kids
WorthIt is meant for people doing their own grocery shopping. If you're under 13, please don't create an account.
